Beskrivelse
Testeboskogen nature reserve is an almost 400-hectare forest area close to urban areas between Skidstavallen and Hocksjö fäbod outside Gävle. Testeboskogen is one of the municipal nature reserves just outside Gävle. It is a popular outdoor area where many people ski, hike and pick berries and mushrooms.
The nature reserve is owned and managed by Gävle municipality.
Plants and animals in the reserve
There are forests with elements of 200-year-old old pine trees left by previous felling, marshes and swamps and overgrown lakes.
At the end of the summer, the small orchid mosquito flower blooms at Hocksjömossen.
Many birds thrive in Testeboskogen. Capercaillie, wolverine, sparrow owl and barn owl nest in the area. Moose, roe deer, hare and badger are common.

Forskrifter
Special rules apply in the nature reserve. It is not allowed to:
- drive motorized vehicles other than on roads intended for motorized traffic
- take firewood. Only your own firewood or firewood from the municipality's firewood store may be used
- break branches, fell or otherwise damage living or dead standing or fallen trees and bushes
- damage, pick or collect plants and fungi. However, picking berries, edible mushrooms and flowers for personal use is permitted, with the exception of protected and red-listed species
- climbing nest trees, staying close to a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow, collecting
- animals or otherwise deliberately harm or disturb wildlife
- put up a picture, poster, billboard, sign or make an inscription
- damaging any fixed object or surface formation, such as moving or removing stones or similar
- riding on electric trails or groomed ski trails
- driving snowmobiles other than on roads intended for motorized traffic that are ploughed in winter
- cycling other than on roads, paths and tracks marked on the management map.
