Beskrivelse
The magnificent Storberget rises 360 meters above sea level. The area is at its best in spring, summer and fall. In the nature reserve you can go hiking or look at rare plant species. Or take a break at the resting hut on the mountain and look out over the beautiful view. Storbergets nature reserve is located 6 kilometers southwest of Sörforsa and covers 182 hectares of which 181 hectares are land area and 1 hectare of water. The mountain lies on the border between the hilly terrain in the west and the flat coastal landscape in the east.
The 50-100 meter high lodge walls in the north are therefore a dominant feature of the landscape. Large boulders that have broken away from the slope lie at the foot of the mountain and form one of Hälsingland's largest boulder fields.
There are several small streams within Storberget nature reserve. Some of these run in the deep rift valleys, sometimes underground.
Valuable for many
In the difficult-to-access boulder field is one of the county's richest sites for the rare sweet grass. The site is a classic and was discovered as early as 1883. The reserve is also home to several other threatened species, including the lichen longbeard and the fungus winter tagging.
The forest on the mountain is varied, with mixed coniferous forest, rocky pine forest and herb-rich spruce forest. In some parts of the forest you can see traces of previous forest fires.
Many different bird species nest in Storberget. Lesser spotted woodpecker, lichen jay and three-toed woodpecker have been observed in the area.
