Beskrivelse
Stenöorn Nature Reserve is one of the county's best places for birds. The area is located on the headland formed where Söderalaåsen (Ljusnanåsen) meets the sea. The ridge here consists of a flat and heavily swollen sand ridge with shallow beaches. In Stenöorn nature reserve you can watch birds from the bird tower. Or walk on the path along the sea. The beach meadows and birds offer great nature experiences.
The nature on the headland is open, with dry meadows and occasionally flooded beach meadows. Here you can find less common seashore species such as snake's tongue, saltwort, red foxglove, beach vetch, beach mallow, coastal arrowhead and striped spurge.
The low-growing vegetation and the large shallow water areas have made the headland one of the county's best resting places for waders. Almost all waders that regularly occur in Sweden have been observed here.
Keep in mind
To protect the bird life, it is only allowed to visit the marked path and the bird tower between April 1 and August 31.

The nature reserve is located east of Sandarne, about 1 mile southeast of Söderhamn.
Forskrifter
Special rules apply within the nature reserve. It is not allowed to:
- drive a motorized vehicle
- enter the nature reserve, both on land and water, between April 1 and August 31, other than on the path marked in the terrain leading to the bird tower
- take firewood or make fires
- damage, pick or collect plants, animals (including insects), fungi and lichens. However, berry, mushroom and flower picking for personal use is allowed, except for protected and red-listed species
- climbing nest trees, staying close to a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow, or otherwise deliberately harming or disturbing wildlife. The exception is the hunting that may be carried out in the nature reserve
- breaking branches, felling or otherwise damaging living or dead trees and shrubs, or otherwise harming living or dead trees and plants
- bring an off-leash dog or other unleashed pet
- put up a picture, poster, billboard, sign or make an inscription
- damaging any fixed object or surface formation, such as moving or removing stones
- riding a horse or bicycle
- using noise in a disruptive manner, or using it to attract birds or other animals
- operate a personal watercraft.
