Beskrivelse
The area of the nature reserve, near the village of Skån, last burned for a couple of intense days in early June 2008, at the same time as the major fire in Hassela raged. Two smaller areas were left untouched after the fire and it is these that now form the Skånbrännan Nature Reserve. The area is located 36 kilometers northwest of Friggesund and includes two smaller natural forest areas totaling 27 hectares. There are roads right next to the area, which makes the reserve relatively easily accessible.
The forest in the reserve is the older forest that remained in the area and which had high natural values even before the fire. The eastern part was previously a key biotope with mainly high spruce values.
However, all the spruce died in the fire and now there is instead a lot of dead spruce wood, with deciduous regeneration on the way. The western part is pine-dominated and there are many old pines. Some of the older pines have burn marks (traces of fire) from previous fires.
During the summer of 2013, the insect fauna in the fire area was inventoried. It showed a large number of fire-dependent insects and several other species of conservation interest in the area, such as the black-eyed flicker and the longhorn beetle.

Skånbrännan Nature Reserve is located 36 kilometers northwest of Friggesund, Hudiksvall municipality.
Forskrifter
Special rules apply in the nature reserve. It is not allowed to:
- drive a motorized vehicle
- take firewood. Firing is only permitted if you have brought your own firewood
- breaking branches, felling or otherwise damaging living or dead standing or fallen trees and bushes
- damaging, picking or collecting plants, fungi and lichens
- climbing nest trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise harming or disturbing wildlife
- putting up a picture, poster, billboard, sign or inscription
- damage solid objects or surfaces, such as moving or removing stones, digging, or similar
- use the area for organized competitions without the permission of the County Administrative Board,
- use the area for military exercises.
