Handlinger
Beskrivelse
In the Rossåsen nature reserve, the 100-120 year old, coarse spruces are quite dense. Up on the mountain you can enjoy a nice view of the landscape. Or take a walk in the forest. The area offers great nature experiences. The area is located 15 kilometers southwest of Hassela and covers 12 hectares.
In the long term, there will be natural regeneration as trees blow down. In the gaps that are formed, younger trees will have the chance to grow and the dead trees will rot and decompose with the help of other organisms.
The fact that trees are allowed to grow, die and decay in a natural process in this way means that the forest can be called a natural forest. On the dead wood in the reserve, it is possible to find endangered wood fungi such as the cheese tick and the black tick.
In the eastern part of the reserve there is a steeper section where there are many deciduous trees, especially aspen. There are several old, large aspens here. On the large aspens there are various red-listed jelly lichens, such as the aspen jelly lichen and the dawn jelly lichen.
