Beskrivelse
There is no mention of Olsberget, which was probably built in the 18th century, in the 1664 fäbod list. At the time of the 1806-1812 census, the farmstead had nine co-owners from Holsåker and Kyrkbyn in Floda. Their buffer road was 2.5 miles and the hike usually took seven to eight hours.
It was precisely this great distance that led to the herding stopping relatively early. People and animals made their way to Olsberget relatively easily, but all supplies and tools first had to be transported by horse and cart to Lövberget, then split to Olsen's shore, then rowed across the lake and finally split up the slope of Olsberget.
Today, only one of the old mountain huts remains. But the long and now moss-covered stone fences and cairns bear witness to the enormous farming activity of the past. At the time of the land transfer, the cultivated area amounted to 51 acres and eight cape acres.
Rosa's Britta Larsson, born in 1851, was Olsberget's last herdsman. She had four cows and a few young animals when she retired for good in the early 1930s.
