Beskrivelse
Just west of Horndal, Krokbäcken winds its way through a valley. The area's highest natural values are around the stream, with old trees, dead wood and several threatened and rare species. Among other things, you can find the small orchid knotweed here, with its small white flowers on an axis.
In the western part of the nature reserve, the stream has cut through a ravine. The steep slopes are mostly covered with spruce, but there are also plenty of large pines and old birches. The humidity is high and there are many dead trees.
Further east, there is both young forest and clear-cuts, but also a small stand of old pine forest that increases the nature value. The area should be allowed to develop freely.

Forskrifter
I reservatet är det inte tillåtet att:
- skada växande eller döda – stående eller omkullfallna – träd, stubbar och buskar. Undantag råder för insamling av löst liggande, mindre, torra grenar och kvistar i syfte att göra upp eld.
Utan tillstånd från Länsstyrelsen är det dessutom förbjudet att:
- gräva upp växter, plocka mossor, lavar och vedlevande svampar eller samla in djur (t.ex. insekter)
- genomföra eller bedriva tävlingar, lägerverksamhet och andra större eller återkommande organiserade arrangemang.
