Beskrivelse
Knusberget Nature Reserve is located on an eastern slope and consists of old coniferous forest with a large number of deciduous trees on the slope.
The reserve consists mainly of coniferous forest, but on the slope there are elements of various deciduous trees such as willow, rowan and aspen. On the steep slope there are minor landslides and trees often fall or blow over. This creates a varied environment that benefits many different plants and animals. The slope is a refuge for lynx.
The valley below the ravine is very wet, with a large amount of gray alder. The area has a good climate for hanging lichens. These require high humidity and a forest that is not affected by modern forestry. Among other things, twig lichen, bearded lichen and the unusual violet-grey thorn lichen grow here.
In the southern part, the soil is affected by limestone, which means that the less common species of cornflower and spring pea grow there.
You reach the reserve by turning from highway 70/E16 onto a gravel road where it is signposted Knusberget. Follow the gravel road past the quarry to a turning area where you can park and the information board is located. A footpath starts next to the information board. The trail markings are unclear in places and will be improved by the manager.
