Carl Larsson-leden

Carl Larsson lived in both Falun and Sundborn. As other Sundborn residents had done for hundreds of years before him, he often walked through the forest and over the mountain. He wrote: "That is how I often run and lie like a strap between my two homes." His wife Karin and the children also walked that way when they were not traveling by horse and carriage over Krokfors and Sveden.

A walk along the Carl Larsson Trail largely follows the very old road between Falun and Sundborn. Eight information signs along the trail provide information about interesting places or phenomena of a scientific and cultural-historical nature. Carl Larsson's descriptions of the road are the overall theme.

**One section runs through the risk area for the military's shooting range and during shooting exercises the trail is therefore closed, see fact box below and links to the right.

The trail ends at Hyttnäs nature reserve located right next to the Carl Larsson farm. The nature reserve offers a beautiful view of the Carl Larsson farm from the water side. A small bathing area with a jetty provides the opportunity for a dip if the temperature allows.

The hike from Skyttepaviljongen at Lugnet to Sundborn is about 9 km long and takes two to three hours depending on how fast you walk. Sturdy shoes are recommended, depending on the weather it can be a bit wet in some places. If you are cycling or walking with a stroller and want to avoid the steep and rocky path north of Sjulsarvet, you can take the road via Germundstäkt to Mjölnarbo.
