In Tolseboda Nature Reserve you can experience a natural forest that has been untouched for about 300 years.
Blekinges oldest natural forest
The core of the reserve consists of a stream valley with old beech forest where a large proportion of spruce has migrated in the last 50 years. Some of the spruces are old and there are also coarse spruce logs in various stages of decomposition. No felling has taken place in the area since at least the early 1700s. In 1961, a small part of the area was formally protected as a natural monument. In 2004, the area of the reserve was expanded so that additional beech forest and the entire valuable stream valley received formal protection. The eastern part of the reserve consists of drier forests and rocky areas as well as smaller swamp forests and marshes with natural values that are mainly linked to oak and beech.
Red-listed species
A large number of red-listed or otherwise unusual species have been found in the reserve, mainly beetles. One of these is the black ox, a 17 mm long shiny black beetle that is closely related to the oak ox. The black ox lives in decaying spruce wood. Several rare lichens and fungi have also been found. The beech forest has a high species richness of large fungi. A 1987-88 inventory of large fungi found 169 species in the area, the majority of which are deciduous forest species.

Take the road between Möljeryd and Tving. The nature reserve is just over a kilometer north of Tolseboda village. The best thing to do is to leave your car in the parking lot at Sänneshults nature reserve, just southwest of the village, and walk the small gravel road north to Tolseboda nature reserve.
Forskrifter
You are welcome to visit Tolseboda, but please note that it is not allowed to
- break branches, cut down or otherwise damage living or dead standing and fallen trees and bushes
- capture or collect invertebrates in such a way as to damage or destroy their habitats or breeding grounds
- digging up plants or otherwise damaging vegetation
- carry an unleashed dog other than for hunting
- put up a picture, poster, billboard, sign or make an inscription
- destroy or damage a fixed natural object or surface formation
- drive a vehicle other than on the road
- ride a horse or bicycle other than on the road
- light a fire
- camping or setting up a caravan or motor home
- organize camp activities or competitions.
Without permission from the county administrative board, you may not
- collect wood-boring insects or wood-boring fungi
- conduct scientific research involving sampling or installation of equipment.
