Walk among ancient oak trees near the centre of Lyckeby. The medieval town of Lyckå is nearby.
Your highest chance of seeing and hearing a stag beetle is to visit Ekebacken in late June, and for a few weeks thereafter. That’s when the males fly out in search of females, who are often found in oak trees that are leaking sap. The largest insect in Europe, this giant among stag beetles can grow to an impressive eight centimetres long. The stag beetle is protected throughout Sweden.
The rules for the nature reserve are shown in the link below but, for example, you are not permitted to camp in a tent or caravan.
