Boön runt

Ten minutes from the city center by car is an island with a marina on one side and the sea on the other. The island is called Boön and is a popular destination for sunbathers. The hiking trail that goes around the island takes about an hour. Much of Karlshamn's history revolves around events that took place on Boön. In addition to the nature experience, the island has many memorials from bygone eras. This was once the site of Karlshamn's defense works and a large shipyard. Follow the hiking trail around Boön, marked in red, about 3 kilometers long. Information boards about cultural and historical attractions. Karlshamn's first defense facility, Gamle skans, was located on the small island at Sternölandet. Sweden's largest shipyard was also located here. Guided tours of Boön can be booked all year round via Sällskapet Castellanerna. The tour lasts about two hours and starts at the bridge to Boön, Stärnö Vindhamn.
