Boön Stärnö-Boöns naturreservat

Much of Karlshamn’s history circles around events played out on the island of Boön. Besides the natural surroundings, there are many ancient monuments from past epochs. This was once the site of Karlshamn’s fortifications, later replaced by the Citadel on Frisholmen, and a large shipyard.

Follow the walking trail around Boön (marked in red, about 3 km long) and read the information boards on cultural and historic sights. The small island in Sternölandet was the site of Karlshamn’s first defensive fortifications, Gamle skans. This was also the site of Sweden’s biggest shipyard.
