The large pink building you see here was built in the second half of the 19th century, it is the last building left that has a direct connection to the blacksmithing activities that were carried out at Jädersbruk until the 1920s.

The workshop is built in a masonry construction with a fine folded metal roof and a number of windows that let the light in in a wonderful way. The façade is plastered and painted an antique pink color. One's thoughts are drawn to a gigantic ship filled with history that has anchored along the Arbogaån river. The activities carried out in the building were carpentry, workshop and painting for the products produced in the sooty forges along the river. This is where shovels, rakes and other tools got their handles. Plows, harrows and other machines had their wooden parts constructed and finely painted before it was time for assembly.

Goods were shipped out via Jäder station and on to Arboga harbor, by boat across Lake Mälaren and via Stockholm to the great oceans. A steam engine drove all the carpentry machines via shafts, gears and fluttering flat belts. If you listen carefully, you can hear the steam engine's puffing sound as it did its job.

Safety devices were an unknown concept and accidents in the machines were common. When electrification swept across Sweden at the beginning of the 20th century and the power station at Jädersbruk was built in 1914, the old steam engine was replaced by an electric motor and the cozy puffing disappeared. Today, the building is a museum and meeting place for the Jädersbruk Friends Association. Some people feel the house ghost that is said to be in the workshop, welcome in to see who you meet ...
