Ramstigen is a walking trail that follows the Arboga River to the west. It takes you through peaceful nature, old buildings, and historical places. Along the way, you can discover stories about monks, kings, and workers who lived and worked here hundreds of years ago.
You pass places where watermills once stood, and where metal was made for the royal palace in Stockholm. At Villagatsbadet, thousands of children learned to swim, and in 1953, the famous swimmer Arne Borg performed here in front of a big crowd.
Near the old mills, you can still see large millstones. At Höjen, you walk past a river where copper coins were once made. In winter, you might see a small bird called the white-throated dipper diving in the cold water.
The nature is beautiful and calm. You pass a small hill called Kinnekulle, which may be a burial place from the Iron Age. The trail also goes through a lovely old park with trees like beech, maple, and apple. In autumn, the colors are especially pretty.
Ramstigen is an easy walk full of stories. It’s a perfect way to enjoy Swedish nature and learn about the past at the same time.
