Högstaåsen is located just over 10 km north of Uppsala, next to the old E4 road 600.

By car: From road 600, turn off just north of Lövstalöt where a sign points to football golf, at the height of a gas station. Keep left at the first junction and right at the second. The parking lot is 100m into this road, at the north-eastern edge of the reserve.

It is forbidden to enter the nature reserve:

1. digging, hoeing or otherwise damaging the soil surface
2. collect mosses, lichens or fungi, with the exception of edible fungi and single specimens for species identification
3. collect or remove insects or other invertebrates except for single individuals for species identification
4. make a fire or barbecue in a place other than that designated by the county administrative board,
5. drive a motorized vehicle except for driving on roads and parking lots,
6. set up a motorized vehicle, caravan, trailer or similar,
7. put up permanent markings, signs or similar, or make inscriptions
8. ride other than on roads or marked bridle paths,
9. without the permission of the County Administrative Board, use the area for organized competitions or exercises, camp activities or the like.
