Agenda 2030 Mål 11: Hållbara städer och samhällen

Sustainable cities and communities is one of the goals where the municipality can really make a difference.

The way the municipality works on community planning touches on several of the targets, such as ensuring that there is adequate, safe and affordable housing for those who want to live in the municipality (target 11.1).

Work to preserve and display the cultural and natural heritage of the municipality also contributes to meeting the target (target 11.4).

The targets also include reducing the negative environmental impact of cities per capita by paying particular attention to air quality and waste management. In Åtvidaberg, air quality measurements are carried out regularly and air quality is generally good.

Through public transport and improvement of the road network, the state and municipality are working to provide access to safe, affordable, accessible and sustainable transport systems to all, which is another of the targets under Goal 11 (target 11.2).

In 2021, among other things, a hiking trail with a barbecue area has been adapted for accessibility in connection with Edbergafältet. Three additional barbecue areas have been set up at various locations in the municipality. Along the parts of the Östgötaleden trail in the municipality, loops have been cleared and signage has been adapted for increased accessibility.
