Mestoslinkka fors

The Kalix River is 430 km long and is one of Sweden's four national rivers. One of the Kalix River's dramatic rapids is Mestoslinkka, located near the village of Narken. Mestoslinkka was investigated in the 1970s as a potential site for hydropower development, but local protests by Älvräddarna succeeded in overturning the plans.

Here you can walk along the riverbank and follow the river's progress a long way upstream, and there are several barbecue areas and cozy fishing spots.

At the parking lot there is one of the several large stone coffins that used to be built in the river channel in connection with timber rafting.
