Sparkling waters, deep forests, and open meadows welcome you with exciting history, legends, and monuments from times gone by. Ljungby is a water-rich municipality with Lake Bolmen at its heart. Here you can find an island for every one of the year’s 365 days. Bolmen offers boating, fishing, canoeing, swimming, cycling, and hiking around the lake on the 130 km bike trail, Bolmen Runt. Watch the sailboats cruise in Storsjön or the kayak taking a quiet tour. Beautiful sandy beaches and islets with cliffs that invite you to swim. It’s easy to find your own favorite spot here.

Bolmen Runt is a delightful bike ride that sometimes goes near the water and sometimes through deep forests. If you choose to cycle over Bolmsö, the route also takes you on the water via the road ferry. The surface varies between paved roads and gravel, on both car-free bike paths and mixed traffic.

You can also walk around the lake, then follow the signs for “Bolmenmarschen”. Do you instead want to walk on Bolmsö, which is Småland’s largest island? Then follow “Bolmsö gamla kyrkväg”, which is a signposted hiking tour on trails and country roads. On the way back, you follow the country road on the eastern side.

There are several nice places to stop for a lovely fika in nature or a cozy café. The tours can also be divided over several days with overnight stays at hotels, B&Bs, or campgrounds.
