Hammarsjöns friluftsområde

The area is rich in natural habitats such as ancient forests, bogs and wetlands.

Unusual plants, such as orchids and dwarf birch, grow here.

You may also see elk and deer, and if you're lucky, capercaillie and grouse.

The field pond, north of the inlet to the large Hammarsjön lake, is artificial and was previously used to grow whitefish.

The Great Hammer Lake fishing area includes around thirty lakes.

Pike, perch, trout and rainbow trout are some of the species fished.

There are jetties, windbreaks, barbecue areas and disabled access at several lakes. There are cottages for rent in the area.

The distance to mobile phone masts and power lines also makes the area interesting for those sensitive to electricity.

Wilderness camping is permitted throughout the area.
