Borgekulle-Fornborg i Blaxhult

Fortresses were built in the Iron Age as places of refuge in times of trouble or as places to guard shipping lanes. It is possible that the area below the mountain was once a lake with a connection to the Baltic Sea.

On the ridge below the mountain there are four burial mounds, one of which dates from the Stone Age. In this there is a 3.5 meter long coffin of stone slabs. Rock coffins were built in the late Stone Age and some were also used in the early Bronze Age. The dead were buried unburned and each rock coffin has been used for several burials. The rock coffin is surrounded by a stone wall. The other three graves are also stone settings.
