Björnökärr

The wetland in the Björnökärr recreation area not only plays an important role in the treatment of stormwater from nearby residential areas. It is also a place for biodiversity while serving as a recreation and activity area.

Björnökärr has been developed as an educational space in nature to encourage children to explore and learn. In the spring you can look for newly awakened bugs or amphibians and perhaps baby birds have hatched in one of the hollows.

Along a walking trail around the stormwater ponds, there are several types of seating, including pavilions, barbecue areas and wooden platforms. To encourage movement and play in nature, there are various outdoor exercise equipment and balance tracks. In the wooded area between the pavilions there are exciting paths and cozy willow huts.

The area is also home to Snurrom Bikepark, Kalmar's first mountain bike course from 2020. The bike park of a total of about 4 km with its technical course and three different MTB loops on forest trails is popular with both large and small cyclists of different skill levels. In addition to cycling, you can also find a place to grill or have a coffee.
