Kuvaus
In a landscape formed by an ice river thousands of years ago, you can experience a very old forest that, in the difficult terrain, has been left to fend for itself for a long time.
The entire nature reserve consists mostly of old spruce forest. Here and there you can see large areas with various deciduous trees that have grown strong after a fire long ago. In the steeper parts and also on the lean moors, there is a diverse pine forest, i.e. pines of different sizes and ages.
The entire reserve area shows traces of fires and has a lot of dead wood, i.e. old dead trees that are either standing up or lying on the ground. Old pine trees, up to 250 years old, often show traces of forest fires. A few pines have traces of more than one fire.
In wetter parts of the reserve there are old spruce forests that have survived forest fires. There you can find spruces with a diameter at breast height of one meter, and if they grow in a nutrient stream, they can be up to thirty meters high.

The directions start from Sveg. Follow road E45 towards Älvros about 15 kilometers. Then turn left onto Norrälvsvägen towards Sätervallen. Follow it for about 19 kilometers and then turn left. Turn left again after just over 1 kilometer. After about 1.5 kilometers you will arrive at the nature reserve entrance.
