Ärtknubben naturreservat

Beautiful views are perhaps the most distinctive feature of the 149 ha reserve. The view of Fjällgrycken and Ärten from the viewpoint is breathtaking. There is also a hut and a barbecue area.

But there is more to discover here: old-growth forest, abandoned mountain pastures and exciting life in the water. The valley is mainly covered in lush spruce forest and further up the pine takes over, but elements of deciduous trees such as aspen, willow and birch occur here and there.

The wilderness trail that starts from Bjursås leads through the area and past the view. If you walk the trail from the river and up towards the view, you pass the long-abandoned shepherd's hut Knubben, but you have to be careful if you are to notice this! The surrounding spruce forest has become old and started to fall over - so the light reaches the ground and then it grows like crazy - and the remains that were clearly visible earlier are hidden by vegetation. The reserve is located in eastern Leksand and the easiest way to get there is via Bjursås and Fjällgrycksbo.
