Vassjödagen

The Municipality of Borlänge invites everyone who loves animals and nature to a fun day at Vassjön!

The municipality’s interest in managing grazing animals on its own began when Vassjön was restored in 1994. The goal was to recreate an attractive environment for a rich variety of plant and animal life, and an important part of this effort is to keep grazing animals on the restored lakeshore meadows. Today, there are about 100 Highland cows and their calves to visit at Lake Vassjön.

Lake Vassjön, along with the adjacent Häggenäs and Bysjö areas, is also worth a visit for birdwatchers, featuring, among other things, a birdwatching tower.

On Vassjö Day, hamburgers and coffee and pastries are available at cost, along with activities for children and adults, including lasso throwing, a trivia walk, and guided birdwatching tours.
