Kransarna, Naturreservat

The area, located on the Kransarna mountain, consists of valuable natural forest, mainly pine. Most of the pines are between 100 and 150 years old, but there are some 200-300-year-old pines and some 200-year-old spruces. There are no paths in the area, so you can roam freely in the forest. Kransarna covers an area of about 76 hectares and is located about 6 kilometers west of Bergsjö. The forest is largely affected by forest fires, although it has been a long time since the last fire. There are traces of fire in the form of burnt stumps and occasional damage to the trees.

Valuable for many

Red-listed twig lichen occurs to a fairly large extent, but also violet-grey thorn lichen, dwarf beech lichen and pine tick were found in the area during the county administrative board's inventory.

Animals in Kransarna

There is a rich bird life in the area. Among other things, capercaillie have been observed. Close to Kransarna are Igeltjärnsmyrans and Björnåsens nature reserves, rich in several breeding species. These include ducks and waders.
