Lin för livet

"Flax for Life" showcases just how versatile and useful flax is. Flax is a cultivated plant that has been used by humans for thousands of years. In Sweden, flax was very important until cotton was introduced. Today, flax is important once again because it is a fiber that we can grow and harvest here, and we can do so in a sustainable way. The exhibition features newly produced flax products from all over Sweden, ranging from flax insulation to delicate lace.

“Lin för linet” will be on display at the Oskarshamn Art Gallery from January 28 through February 26, 2023.

Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, January 28, at 11:00 a.m.

At the opening, Frida Persson, the gardener in the village of Stensjö, will talk about the return of flax to the village. There will also be a guided tour of the exhibition led by folk craft consultant Thea Östin.
