Beschreibung
Many hike the trail through the beautiful forest to Mor Sönne's cabin and then return the same way.
If you want to do this whole hike, you should be able to park a car in each parking lot or have someone who can come and pick you up as it is far between the different parking lots.
The trail starts in Skärkdalen and is well trodden and goes through birch forest, mixed forest and over marshes. After a few kilometers you come to the Skärvagsdalen nature reserve, a primeval forest area with trapping pits and Sami remains. The oldest pines are several hundred years old. Just over 500 meters into the reserve you come to Kari Torkils, an old Sami school. You can still see the remains of the house foundation. Feel free to sit down for a while at the prepared resting place.
Continue further into the reserve and after about 400 meters you will arrive at Mor Sönnes, a well-preserved log house. The house is privately owned.
Then continue along the path towards Silverfallet. When you reach Öjönån, you can either follow the river upstream a few hundred meters until you reach the beautiful Silverfallet or cross the bridge towards Nylandsvallen.
Keep right when you pass Nylandsvallen and walk the last two km towards Hovlinsvallen.
The mountains are a cultural landscape and reindeer herding takes place in several places. Four samebys operate in Berg municipality. Visitor pressure in the mountains is increasing and with it the risk of impact on reindeer husbandry. As a visitor to the mountains, it is important that you show consideration and know how you should act where reindeer herding takes place.
Keep this in mind when you are in the mountains:
- Always leave the reindeer alone. If you come across reindeer, take a wide detour around or sit down quietly and wait for them to pass.
- Keep your dog on a leash where there are reindeer. A loose dog can cause great disturbance and harm to the reindeer and reindeer herding work.
- Follow marked trails.
- Avoid disturbing reindeer at snow camps, they stay there to protect themselves from heat and troublesome insects.
- Avoid camping in lush valleys.
- Cycle on roads and paths intended for cycling.
