Virestadsjöarnas fiskevårdsområde

The fishing area Virestadsjöarna is located in the beautiful nature around Virestad and Aranäs, about 10-20 km northeast of Älmhult. The area includes the lakes Virestadsjön and Garanshultasjön. Here you can catch perch, bream, pike, rotauge roach, pike-perch and more. The protected catfish is also found in the lakes.

Please note that the right of public access (allemansrätten) applies both on land and water but does not cover fishing. For fishing in Virestadsjöarna you need a permit (fiskekort), which you can buy from one of the following:

At Välje swimming area there is parking, a boat ramp and the possibility to rent a boat. For boat rental, please contact Anders Arvidsson (phone number above).

Note that fisheries inspectors are present and have the right to ask you to present a valid fishing license.
