Kallriga naturreservat

In Kallriga Nature Reserve you will find a coastal landscape with the shallow Kallrigafjärden, flower-rich beach meadows and a somewhat wild natural landscape. Various seabirds thrive in the many small bays and cows graze along the shores.

For those who want to visit the reserve, there are services and facilities in the southern part, at Kallerö. In other parts there are no services or prepared paths.

From the parking lot on the right side before you reach Kallerö, there is a 1 km long path up to the view on Länsmansberget and on to the rest area at the boathouse. Here large ash trees grow along the beach. A little further on you will reach the bird tower at Harudden. During the migration season, large numbers of seabirds rest in Kallrigafjärden. On an early spring morning, there are plenty of ducks, geese and swans. In the area you also have a good chance of seeing sea eagles, sometimes several at once.

The cape Kallerö is outside the reserve. It is possible to camp on the eastern part of the cape. A 400 m long path leads out to a barbecue area on the rocks at Margrets udde.

Kallrigafjärden is a shallow bay. There are some small islands but then the sea is open to the north and east to Gräsö. Here is fine to paddle, but with some caution as there are plenty of rocks and shallows. It is possible to put in the kayak at Kallerö. Note that a large part of the bay within the reserve is a bird protection area between 15/7 and 15/10.
