Hovlinsvallen-Silverfallet

Follow the marked trail towards Silverfallet. The path goes through mountain birch forest with stately Nordic wolfsbane, tibast and many different orchids. The walk then continues over some bogs until you reach Nylandsvallens fäbod, which was in use until the 1960s. Then continue over the bridge at Öjönån and turn right and follow the river upstream until you reach the beautiful Silverfallet.

Then go back to Nylandsvallen and follow the signs for Viksjövålen/Öjön. Continue the path to the next crossroads and turn right towards the idyllic forest pasture Vålvallen, which was used 1918-1951. The pasture was only used every other year when it was alternated with the pasture Viksjövallen.

The mountains are a cultural landscape and reindeer herding takes place in several places. Four samebys operate in Berg municipality. Visitor pressure in the mountains is increasing and with it the risk of impact on reindeer husbandry. As a visitor to the mountains, it is important that you show consideration and know how you should act where reindeer herding takes place.

Keep this in mind when you are in the mountains:

• Always leave the reindeer alone. If you come across reindeer, take a wide detour around or sit down quietly and wait for them to pass.
• Keep your dog on a leash where there are reindeer. A loose dog can cause great disturbance and harm to the reindeer and reindeer herding work.
• Follow marked trails.
• Avoid disturbing reindeer at snow camps, they stay there to protect themselves from heat and troublesome insects.
• Avoid camping in lush valleys.
• Cycle on roads and paths intended for cycling.
