Beskrivelse
The Hovby ängar reserve is difficult to access. Visitors are instead referred to the nearby reserves Åsums ängar and Åsumallet Link to another website. with good parking facilities, bird tower and outdoor museum. The large grassland meadows at Hovby are important habitats for many bird species. Among other things, several endangered and grassland-dependent waders and shelducks, such as curlew, ruff and dunlin, nest here. With a good pair of binoculars you are as good as at the meadows.

Vast meadows on the shore
Along the lower part of the River Helge å is the country's largest wetland area of grazed and hayed inland coastal meadows. Hovby ängar is the largest and one of the most valuable stretches of coastal meadow in the area.
Important bird areas
The large managed coastal meadows at Hovby are important habitats for many bird species, and several endangered and managed waders and shelducks, such as curlew, ruff and dunlin, nest here. The reserve's old-fashioned agricultural landscape is also home to the common toad, a number of red-listed species of ground beetle, and the very rare and red-listed snails, the greater agate snail and the limestone bog snail.
Flora of the salt meadows
Many of the plants that make up the flora of the salt meadows are also dependent on mowing and grazing animals in order not to be outcompeted by fast-growing species. Hovby meadows are home to, among other things, meadowsweet, hay rattle, hay flower and honey flowers, as well as the orchids meadow knapweed and meadow lilies.
Outdoor life
Hovby meadows are difficult to access for the general public and visitors are instead referred to the nearby reserve Åsums ängar och Åsumallet with good parking facilities, bird tower and outdoor museum.

**Within the area, special rules and restrictions apply to the right of public access.
For example, it is forbidden to:
- make fires
- camping
- setting up a caravan/mobile home
- riding horses
It is important to note that this is only a selection of the rules.
Full regulations for visitors
In addition to regulations and prohibitions in other laws and regulations, it is forbidden to:
- dig, remove, cover, drill, chisel, paint or otherwise damage boulders, stone walls, living or dead trees, bushes and stumps,
- make a fire
- ride a horse
- camping or setting up a caravan, camper van or similar
- affixing a board, placard, poster, sign, inscription, fence, inscription or comparable device, with the exception of affixing information and reserve signs and boundary markings, marking out a boat path through the lake, placing a lake marker and placing markings/fence in connection with the training of dogs for searching,
- use a radio, musical instrument or other sound system in a disruptive manner,
- organize a boat mooring.
Furthermore, it is forbidden to without the permission of the County Administrative Board
8. catch or collect insects or other animals, or otherwise intentionally disturb wildlife,
9. organize military exercises, competitions, camps or other training activities.
