Forsakar, besöksplats i Vattenriket

People used to think that Forsakar was the work of giants. Today we know that the gorge is a crack in the bedrock. The best way to experience Forsakar is to walk the upper path. The path goes through beautiful beech forest along the edge of the 40 meter deep ravine. The slopes are home to yellowhammer, ferns and mosses. In the spring, cowslips and goldenrod bloom.

After a while you come to a platform with a nice view of one of Skåne's highest natural waterfalls. The upper fall has a drop of 7.4 meters. The lower falls 10.6 meters and is divided by a ledge. It is this ledge, the "tub", that has given the fall the name Forsakar.

Many insects live in the old trees. The beech wood borer is a rare beetle that lives among the fallen tree trunks. Warblers and woodpeckers thrive in the forest, and the reed bunting and the common tern forage in the stream, as do the kingfisher and the heron.

There are many stories about mythical creatures at Forsakar. At the waterfalls, the woodcock is said to play and in the forest, the woodcock lures young men to get lost. Choose the upper path. Many trees on the slopes are affected by rot and can fall without warning.
