Prästgårdsängens nature reserve has been established for its value for outdoor life, but also to preserve an old-fashioned agricultural landscape. Here you can walk along the Ljungbyån river through flower-rich pastures. If you're really lucky, you might see the shimmering kingfisher!
Old agricultural landscape
The reserve's land has been used for grazing and haymaking for hundreds of years. The flowers found here bear witness to this. They thrive on poor soil and need a lot of sunlight. The flowers are a cultural heritage that tells us about an agricultural landscape that dates back a long time. To preserve the valuable flora, but also the landscape, the Prästgårdsängens fields are grazed in summer.
Hedgerow trees
Stately oaks grow in the western part of the pasture. The trees, which have grown up in an open landscape, are characterized by large, wide crowns. Older pasture trees are valuable habitats for fungi, lichens and mosses, among others. If you take a closer look at the rough bark of the trees, lichens appear in different colors and shapes and mosses in different shades of green.
Colorful guest
In the moist soil along the Ljungbyån river, the alders form dense rows. Here and there are small openings towards the water where the bank is exposed. These are the kingfisher's hunting grounds. This colorful bird lives along the banks where it can be seen diving into the water in search of fish. Despite its eye-catching plumage, the kingfisher is hard to spot when it sits still. But if it takes flight, you might spot it as it flashes past like a blue streak.

Rutevejledning
The reserve is located within easy walking distance of Ljungbyholm's community.The reserve can also be reached by car, it is possible to park along the road to the north.A walking path leads through the area along the river.
Regler
In the nature reserve you are not allowed:
- Damage or remove fixed natural objects or surface formations.
- Damage or remove growing trees, bushes or plants.
- Pick flowers.
- Hunt, kill, capture or harm wild mammals, birds or their young.
- Remove or damage eggs or nests.
- Be near a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow.
- Bring a dog, or other animal, that is not on a leash.
- Camping.
- Making a fire.
- Parking vehicles.
- Leaving garbage or litter.
Full regulations
C. Regulations under Section 10 of the Nature Conservation Act regarding what the public must observe within the nature reserve.
In addition to what is prescribed by law and regulation, it is prohibited to
- damage or destroy fixed natural objects or surface formations
- damage or remove growing trees, bushes or plants, including flower picking
- capture, injure or kill animals, touch, injure or remove birds' eggs and nests, including by photography
- bringing an unleashed dog or otherwise disturbing wildlife
- camping and making fires
- park vehicles
- leaving waste or otherwise littering or untidy
