Beskrivelse
The old and almost untouched pine forest has been exposed to many fires. Damage to the pine trunks, known as fire blight, is often seen. There is dead wood, which may be fallen tree trunks, but also standing stumps. The fire-affected old pine forest habitat type is unusual as forest fires are nowadays fought effectively. It is also the case that there are several species that are dependent on fires. Therefore, Stuguåberget Nature Reserve will be managed by the County Administrative Board burning parts of the reserve in a safe and controlled manner at relatively long intervals.

Rutevejledning
Till naturreservatet tar man sig enklast med bil. Från Östersund följ E14 söderut mot Sundsvall. Cirka 5 kilometer efter Bräcke sväng höger mot Bensjön. Efter drygt 8 kilometer sväng höger mot Löningsberg. I Löningsberg fortsätt norrut mot Öster-Märlingen. Efter knappt 3 kilometer sväng vänster mot Märlingsberget. Total körsträcka från Östersund till Stuguåbergets naturreservat är drygt 90 kilometer.
Regler
Welcome to Stuguåberget. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- pick and collect species of various kinds, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms,
- climbing trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately damaging or disturbing wildlife,
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make fires, other than with firewood brought in
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
