Beskrivelse
Here you will experience a mushroom-rich and patchy limestone coniferous forest, which is a very unusual type of nature. The limestone coniferous forest is dominated by spruce. The calcareous soil provides a fertile and herb-rich vegetation. The area has been grazed by animals for many years. The extensive grazing favors mycorrhizal fungi. These are fungi that work with the roots of plants and trees to gather nutrients. They also depend on the presence of old trees in the forest. In limestone coniferous forests in particular, you can find a number of rare and well-known mushrooms, such as the spicebush or the gooseberry fungus.

Rutevejledning
The area is reached from the south by taking Bällstavägen north from the E14 in Pilgrimstad, following the road for about one and a half kilometers to just before Hanåsen village. From there it is possible to walk or cycle about two kilometers to the nature reserve. In the latter part of 2020, an information sign will be erected at Hugobuan.
Regler
Welcome to Rutfjället. Keep in mind that it is not allowed within the reserve:
- pick and collect species of various kinds, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms,
- climbing trees, staying near a bird of prey's nest, lair or pot, collecting animals or otherwise deliberately damaging or disturbing wildlife,
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- start a fire
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road.
Without the permission of the County Administrative Board, it is forbidden to:
- carry out scientific studies involving the collection of species or having any other impact on the natural environment.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
