Nysätern - Sododalen

In Sododalen, located in the center of the Sonfjäll massif, the river Sodan is lined with mountain thyme, horsetail, mountain cress, meadow sorrel, red-leaved dock, woodruff, mountain heather and torta. Many birds also thrive here, including the common tern and the common snipe. Start from the parking lot below Nysätern, or at Nysätern itself, and continue up towards Gråsidan and Sododalen

(5 km). You should set aside a whole day for this hike. If you want, you can take the opportunity to make a summit trip up to Högfjället. It is only 2 km from the cabin. When you descend into Sododalen, you can take the opportunity to take an extra look at the saddle notch you then have to your right. In the distance you can also see some of the gutters on the western slope of Högfjället and the small resting hut down in the valley. Once down in Sodan's valley, you can enjoy both your packed lunch and the tranquillity that is found in this area, which could very well be called the heart of Sonfjället.
