Beskrivelse
Mittockernäset's 130-160-year-old spruces stand in mostly calcareous soil. The ground is sprouting the delicate fern, and in early summer the guckusko flowers here. Moss-covered stumps tell of felling in the early 1900s. The fact that many of the stumps have charred wood indicates that the area has also been ravaged by forest fires. A pleasant feature of the spruce forest is aspen, birch and willow. Aspens are the most numerous, and some of them are very large. Old aspens are good homes for woodpeckers.

Rutevejledning
Från Föllinge följer man landsväg 344 och 339 i riktning mot Laxviken. Strax innan Hårkan svänger man vänster in på en skogsbilväg. Efter tre kilometer är man framme vid reservatets gräns.
Regler
Welcome to Mittockernäset. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- capture, disturb or harm mammals, birds, frogs and reptiles, as well as damage their nests and spawning grounds or collect eggs
- picking and collecting species of any kind, except berries and edible mushrooms
- climbing nest trees or deliberately staying closer than 100 meters to a bird of prey's nest, lair or burrow
- damaging the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood
- make a fire, other than with firewood
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
