Beskrivelse
In the Bjurälven nature reserve on a headland in Lake Leipikvattnet is the mountain apartment of the same name. Unfortunately, the farm has been uninhabited for some time and has no electricity, but it does have a photovoltaic system, a diesel generator and wood burning. The land around the farm has high cultural and natural values like many of the remaining mountain apartments.
It was in the Bjurälven river, which flows into Leipikvattnet, that the first beavers were reintroduced to Sweden in 1922, after the beaver had been extinct since the end of the 19th century. The project is considered one of the most successful nature conservation projects ever.

Fakta
On a mountain estate, the land is owned by the state and the buildings by the tenant. The concept of mountain property was created in 1915 because the state wanted to limit settlement in mountain areas in order to secure the Sami's access to the reindeer grazing mountains and to prevent people from settling in places that were not suitable for agriculture and thus becoming dependent on state support.
In the book "Fjällbondens avsked", Lars-Olof Hallberg documents the farm.
