Beskrivelse
Once upon a time, the grazing animals of the pastoralists probably grazed the lush hollows in this reserve. A third of the area is limestone coniferous forest with rich marshes and damp limestone streams where you can find both guckusko and forest fruit. There are also spruce-dominated areas with a lot of fire trails. A few pine overhangs have fire marks from three different fires. In the same areas there are really old trees and dead wood in the form of flames. Along the eastern edge of the reserve runs Sandtjärnbäcken, which is clearly affected by a limestone tuff located in the northeast corner of the reserve. The bottom of the stream is bright with calcareous minerals.

Rutevejledning
Följ väg E45 norrut från Östersund. Efter bron över Indalsälven, knappt 2 mil från Östersund svänger man av först höger sedan vänster mot Nyby och Handog. 12 kilometer in på den nya vägen, efter Handog men innan Nyby, viker man av till vänster in på en mindre skogsbilväg. Efter drygt 400 meter har man naturreservatet på höger sida.
Regler
Welcome to Eliasbodarna. Please note that within the reserve it is not allowed to:
- pick and collect species of various kinds, with the exception of berries and edible mushrooms,
- damage the ground, boulders, vegetation, dry trees or other dead wood,
- make fires, other than with firewood brought along, and
- drive a motorized vehicle off-road.
Other rules apply if you want to conduct any kind of activity in the area, see the relevant reserve decision for full regulations. There may also be other laws to take into account, such as the Reindeer Husbandry Act.
