Pilgrimsleden

The pilgrimage route was used for journeys to the Christian center of the North, Nidaros Cathedral in Trondheim, already in the 12th century. Later, it was used by traders from southern Norrland who brought goods to Kopparberget and Mälardalen. The route went through Dalarna, Hälsingland and Jämtland to Nidaros. It runs over the heights to make it easy to find your way, as there were no maps. Boots are recommended, as you pass through marshland. Feel free to bring binoculars.

From the starting point in Yttertänger, the trail is 23 km to Björnås. You can also choose to start the hike at Kurbergets fäbod, the distance is then about 15 km. In the shed there is an open resting cabin with the possibility of spending the night.

The trail is marked with orange color on the trees. In the spring of 2020, Envikens hembygdsförening equipped the trail and provided it with bars in wetter places.
