Karlshamns Museum i Kulturkvarteret

Karlshamn Museum’s collections are housed in several of the old buildings in the town’s historic quarter. Smithska Huset, named after distillery king L O Smith’s son Otto, contains exhibitions reflecting the town’s history and industries. Model ships, fishing equipment and paintings of ships show the town’s strong links with the sea. Beautifully painted ceilings demonstrate the wealth of the early residents. There is a room dedicated to composer Alice Tegnér, who was born in Karlshamn.
Several of the old storehouses in the area are also used for the museum’s exhibitions. The museum grounds include the town’s oldest building, Holländarhuset. The Art Museum is down towards the river, and just before it is one of the museum’s biggest attractions, von Bergen’s Swedish punsch factory.
