Beskrivelse

Elleholm House was an estate in the sixteenth century and up to the eighteenth century where the tenants had to work for the lord in order to farm their own patch of land. The manor house is on an island at the mouth of the Mörrumsån river and the current house was built in 1730 and extended in 1804. Legend has it that there is treasure on the property guarded by a ghost at night. The current building, the yellow manor house, was bought in 1850 by printer Carl Berlin in Copenhagen for his lover Louise Rasmussen. But Carl lost her to King Fredrik VII of Denmark, who married her. Documentation from 1854 says that the King anchored his frigate in the sound and was rowed into the manor where Louise awaited him. There is a memorial stone to this event in the park. Today the house is in private ownership.

There used to be a little town, known as Elleholm, on the island, surrounding the castle.
