Norberg - Engelbrektsspåren (skidspår)

In the historic mining town of Norberg in northern Västmanland you will find Engelbrektsspåren. The trails are open for both skate and classic skiing and take you through a beautiful natural and cultural landscape. The trails are known for being snow-safe and well-kept and therefore attract visitors from large parts of the country. With only two hours from Stockholm, Norberg is often called Sweden's closest ski resort.

As early as December 1, the ski trails in Norberg will premiere when the first artificial snow trail opens with its 3.7 km and starting at Nordansjö After that, the trail system in Nordansjö will be linked to Klackberg and form a 10 km long trail. As more natural snow falls on the ground, more ski trails are opened along the system. Eventually, the whole 'lap' stretches over almost 30 km of continuous skiing. It is this lap that is called the Engelbrektsspåret.

The highlight of the season is undoubtedly the famous Engelbrektsloppet in February, which, like the Vasaloppet, is a big local festival. Engelbrektsloppet is named after the local freedom hero Engelbrekt Engelbrektson, who in the 15th century fought against the Danes who occupied parts of Sweden.
