Stenmyran

The forests in the reserve are affected by fire. The last fire was a long time ago, but visible traces include fire stumps, fire noises on pine trees and the clusters of deciduous trees.

The combination of conifers and deciduous trees is something that many species appreciate. If the forest does not burn, spruce becomes completely dominant. For this reason, parts of the reserve's forests will be managed by felling and prescribed burning.

The damp spruce swamp forests by the bogs have largely escaped fires. One spruce has been found to be 300 years old. The orchid knotweed flowers in late July and early August in this type of forest.
