Opis
The Svartsjön nature reserve is located along the Sörmlandsleden hiking trail. The sense of wilderness is strong in the area. The reserve encompasses a patchwork of bedrock outcrops, pristine forests, mires and the two lakes, Svartsjön and Långsjön. Rare fungi grow in the area, including red ring rot. You may even spot game birds, such as black grouse and capercaillie, as well as rare insects.
Svartsjön was isolated from Lake Ancylus around 9000 years ago due to land rise after the Ice Age. Today, it sits at about 80 m above sea level and is one of the oldest lakes in the county.
Some years ago, parts of the area were affected by a fire. Therefore, be aware of any standing dead trees and take extra care in windy weather.

There's no visitor parking lot or trail from the closest bus stop to the Svartsjön nature reserve.
By foot: Riddartorp and the cottage at Paradiset are both good starting points for a visit to the Svartsjön nature reserve. You can get to the reserve from section 5 of the Sörmlandsleden trail, Handen (Rudans gård)—Paradiset. The reserve is also accessible from the Tornberget nature reserve to the west.

In order to protect the Svartsjön nature reserve, please respect the following rules.
Within the reserve, it is forbidden to:
- dig, cut, blast or in any other way damage rock, soil or stone,
- break branches, fell or in any other way damage living or dead trees and bushes or dig up plants,
- camp for more than two consecutive nights,
- make an open fire.
