The journey to Lidö is short but beautiful, taking only about ten minutes from Räfsnäs brygga, which is serviced year-round by Waxholmsbolaget. During the summer, you can also reach Lidö directly from Strömkajen in Stockholm with Blidösundsbolaget—a beautiful trip through the archipelago that takes about four hours one way. For departure times, visit the Waxholmsbolaget website or use the SL travel planner.
By car to the boat:
It takes about an hour by car from Stockholm to Räfsnäs brygga, and visitor parking (paid) is available on the right side of the road about 400 meters before the pier. Arrive early, as parking is limited. There are also a few charging stations for electric cars.
By bus to the boat:
Buses depart from Tekniska Högskolan in Stockholm to Norrtälje. From Norrtälje, switch to a bus to Räfsnäs brygga and then take the ferry to Lidö. Travel time from Stockholm to Räfsnäs is about 2 hours, and from Norrtälje to Räfsnäs about 30 minutes. Visit www.sl.se to plan your bus and boat journey. Enter Räfsnäs brygga to Lidö in the travel planner for all schedules, and vice versa for your return trip.
North/South line:
During the summer, Lidö is also serviced by the North/South Line, which runs from Arholma (Simpnäs brygga) in the north to Landsort in the south. This boat allows you to reach other beautiful archipelago islands such as Arholma, Svartsö, Finnhamn, Stora Kalholmen, Möja, Ornö, Utö, and Landsort, among others. This boat tour is also a great way to travel between islands while hiking the Stockholm Archipelago Trail, which passes through Lidö.
The northern boat line from Norrtälje is another way to reach Lidö. This line, operated by Blidösundsbolaget, runs from early July to early August and also stops at Arholma and Gräddö. The journey from Norrtälje to Lidö takes about 1.5–2 hours. See the Blidösundsbolaget website for departure times and prices.
By Private boat:
Lidö (N59°46, 407 E19°4, 526) is located in the eastern part of Norrtäljeviken, one nautical mile north of Räfsnäs and three nautical miles south of Björkö/Arholma. Lidö is situated at the intersection of major shipping lanes and is a natural starting point for those sailing across the Åland Sea. The guest harbor is on the island’s southwestern side, in Båthusviken. On the northeastern side, you will find Österhamn, a protected and beautiful natural harbor.
