The nature reserve has areas affected by spruce bark beetle. Many spruce trees have died and may fall over time, so please be cautious and avoid visiting during windy weather.
The beetles only attack living trees and do not remain in dead wood. Dead trees are left in place to support biodiversity, as they provide important habitats for wildlife, mosses, and lichens.
Opis
Smedsmoraskogen is a largely untouched forest area, dominated by coniferous trees and known for its high natural values. The reserve is part of the European Natura 2000 network, which protects important natural habitats.
Smedsmoraskogen is home to a rich variety of mosses, lichens, and fungi. Among these is the rare and protected lichen ringlav, which has been found in several places within the forest.
There are no outdoor recreation facilities in the reserve other than information signs.

Smedsmora Nature Reserve is located between the village of Smedsmora and the lakes Marsjön and Trehörningen. There is no designated parking area for the reserve.

protect Smedsmoraskogen Nature Reserve, there are rules that all visitors must
follow.
Within the
reserve, it is prohibited to:
- Drill, carve, blast, dig, paint, or in any way damage rock, soil, or stone
- Break branches, cut down, or otherwise damage living or dead trees and shrubs
- Dig up or remove plants such as shrubs, herbs, mosses, or lichens
- Remove fungi that grow on wood
