ATTENTION! We are currently felling dangerous trees. Since 2018, many spruce trees in the reserve have been under stress from the effects of drought, storms and the spruce bark beetle. To avoid the risk of dead trees falling on trails or other facilities, selective felling is currently underway. The felled trees are left along the trails as dead wood to promote the biodiversity of the forest.

The felling will mainly take place during winter/spring of 2022. At this time, visitors are advised to avoid the trail in windy weather. The trail and the surrounding area may be messy—thanks for your understanding.

Opis

Angarnssjöängen ("the Angarn beach meadows") is one of the best bird locales in the Stockholm region. If you're not already a birdwatcher, chances are you'll become one after a visit to this fantastic birding hotspot. Take a walk and enjoy the flowering pastures along the 7 km path around the lake. It gets wet here after a good rain—hiking boots or rubber boots are recommended!

A paved path leads from the Örsta parking lot to the beach meadows and to the bird observation deck. The deck has a wheelchair ramp and some benches to sit on. A short branch of the trail takes you to 3000 year old rock carvings (this trail is not wheelchair-accessible).

Respect the bird sanctuary. Dogs should be kept on leash within the reserve. Camping and fires are only allowed at designated areas.

A film from when the birding platform was first opened to the public (in Swedish).
