Opis
Many of the
eskers in the area around Hällestad have long been exploited for their stone
and gravel. Hällestad’s ridges are a remnant of what once existed and are now
protected as two nature reserves. At Prästamöllan, the remains of the gravel
quarry are visible, in the form of a gap which creates steep slopes in the
middle of the ridge. The ridge itself is
covered by beech woodland and the rare dwarf or twisted beech also occurs here.
The ridge and the surrounding area are grazed, which contributes to a varied
and interesting landscape.
